Vibrancy & Balance

• Goal for this family room was to create some vibrancy, balance and a sense of more light
• Chose a strong golden yellow colour that is very warm and vibrant but also has some richness to it, therefore it balances the room better against the heavy brick fireplace
• Removed the heavy beams from the ceiling to give the room a larger look
• Recovered the existing upholstered valances with a bright and lively fabric
• Added some wooden blinds, which also helped to balance some of the fireplace's weight
• Added better general lighting and some accent lighting in the bookcases for interest
• Placed a mirror over the fireplace, which helps to give a sense of more light and colour by reflecting the various elements into the mirror
• The overall effect is a warm, lively and inviting room with a better sense of balance
